Improve your genes with meditation

meditation change your genes

More and more research unfolds showing the benefits of meditation. But did you know studies have found mind-body intervention (MBI) exercises like yoga, Tai Chi and meditation can actually

change your gene expression?

There are some great researchers bridging the gap between psychology, neuroscience and molecular biology. These great people keep proving why we should all be taking time to stop to do these exercises for better health and quality of life.

In a recent article from journal Frontiers in Immunology, there is considerable evidence for the effectiveness of mind–body interventions (MBI) in improving mental and physical health. There is a molecular signature for those how incorporate these mindful practices into daily life.

846 participants from 18 individual studies performed by university experts expose outlines of molecular changes that happened to the body when participant performed regular MBI exercises.

Using bioinformatics analysis in MBI research, the finds show a direct association with gene expression and effects on the immune systems, brain and bio make-up of the body.

One of the most exciting finds is the using MBIs reverses the pro-inflammatory gene by decreasing the production of NK-kB (nuclear factor kappa-light-chain-enhancer of activated B cells) which is a complex protein involved in stress, cytokines and free radical stimuli.

Incorrect regulation of NF-κB has been linked to cancer, autoimmune diseases, viral infections and improper immune function.

Most people think that exercises such as meditation solely correlate to mental wellness but everyone can also benefit from a molecular level to improve all aspects of body health.

Meditation is free, can be done in ten minutes per day and has amazing health benefits. So why doesn’t everyone do it?

You should give it a go now. Check out some of these free guided meditations and get all the benefits from excellent health, life performance and change your genetic code for the better.

  1. I know meditation has amazing benefits because I meditate on a daily basis and have had awesome results, but one thing I didn’t know was that meditation improves your genes… this really is fascinating!

    Thanks =)

  2. I have read quite a bit about meditation and this post has me in awe of what it can do to your genes. Obviously exercising is great for your health but I didn’t realize that mediation can be good for your body as well.

And as you say it is free, so why doesn’t everybody do it. I surely will be after reading this post, so thank you Vince.

  3. How can anyone not want to alter gene expression for the better? Our environment and toxins alter our gene expression for the worst, so something that can actually help the genes function positively should be embraced. You’re right, it only takes 10 minutes a day for these positive outcomes. Thanks for the samples of the guided meditations, very helpful. Any books that you can recommend too?

  4. Hey Vince,
    This is really intriguing stuff.
I’ve used meditation on and off for years to reduce stress and anxiety but never considered the effects it could have at a molecular level, really fascinating I shall look in to it further,
    Cheers.

  5. Hey Vince,

Great post as usual! I am a huge fan of meditation and its benefits. Have you heard of Dr Joe Dispenza? He is amazing and doing amazing things with meditation and getting people to heal and change who they are by a mix of meditation, visualisation and affirmations. All things I have done before but he takes it to the next level.

You explain how this all works so well Vince and I have learned a lot. I can’t get enough learning around this topic. Love it. And the best thing is when you put it into action and it works.

    Cheers brother,

    Kev

    • Hi Kev,

I have heard of him and in my next bit of free time, I want to read his book Evolve your brain. I’ve heard some of his amazing story and using the mind to help heal.

      Appreciate your feedback.
